The suburbs we cover
We install across Kew, Bramley, Highlands North, Sandringham, Fairmount, Linksfield, Orange Grove, Norwood and Melrose. Patio Projex works across Gauteng and manufactures to your measurements in South Africa. For the rest of the city, see louvre and aluminium awnings in Johannesburg.
We have completed and photographed work in Abbotsford— written up in full among our case studies.
The full conversion
Our Kew project is the clearest illustration of what most clients in this part of Johannesburg are actually after: an insulated ceiling with recessed downlights, then aluminium stack folding doors to close the space in. Done in that order, a patio becomes another room of the house — without the mess, cost or timeline of building one.
The sequence matters. The ceiling is the part that makes the space usable year-round, because it's insulated and carries double-roof rain protection. The doors are what make it a room. Plenty of clients do the ceiling first and add doors a season or two later, which is why we specify the ceiling to be enclosed later even when doors aren't in the initial quote.
- Insulated patio ceilings — recessed downlights, fans and skylights available
- Stack folding doors — 2 to 7 panels, shatterproof glass, keyed locking
- Casement windows and fixed panels — light-filled alternatives to a solid wall
- Adjustable louvres — where keeping open sky matters more than sealing the space
Older houses, deeper patios
Housing across Johannesburg East skews older, with patios often tucked under the main roof and running deep. Deep and covered means dark, which is the problem skylights solve — they drop daylight into the middle of a space while the insulated ceiling handles the temperature. Fixed glass panels do similar work vertically, dividing a space without walling off the light.
Getting a Johannesburg East quote
Send a photo of the patio with rough width, projection and height, and say whether you want to enclose now or later — it affects how we specify the ceiling. Quotes cover material, colour, glazing and extras, confirmed on site before manufacture.
