Aluminium awnings for Johannesburg
An aluminium awning is a fixed or adjustable roof over a patio, deck or pool terrace, on a powder-coated aluminium frame. We custom-make them for homes across Johannesburg, from Sandton, Fourways and Randburg to Midrand and the West and East Rand: our core system, the adjustable louvre awning, plus fixed IBR awnings and aluminium pergolas. We build insulated patio ceilings too.
Our core system is the adjustable louvre awning
It is the awning we build most. The roof is a row of aluminium blades on a manual or automated gearbox: close them against intense sun or a storm, and open them to let the winter sun in. A full all-round gutter makes it 95% watertight in Highveld storms.

Each one is custom-made to your measurements. Fixed IBR awnings, pergolas and polycarbonate roofs sit on an aluminium frame powder-coated in Black, Charcoal, Bronze or Traffic White.
Fixed IBR awnings
The fixed IBR awning is the most cost-effective awning in our range. It uses the same gutter system as the louvre and looks much like it, but the roof doesn't open or close. It is guaranteed waterproof under standard Highveld rainstorms, as long as the gutters and downpipes are kept clean.
For daylight, choose solar-control sheets, or have translucent light panels set into the sheeting, as we did on a wrap-around patio in Northriding.

Insulated patio ceilings
A waterproof, insulated roof with double-roof rain protection and a full all-round gutter. From underneath it looks like an indoor ceiling, and it takes downlights, standard lights or outdoor fans. Like fixed IBR, it is guaranteed waterproof under standard Highveld rainstorms.
People use it to turn a patio into extra living space, a gym or an office. The ceiling pictured, beside a pool in Sandown, has a skylight built in.

Aluminium pergolas
A powder-coated aluminium frame that turns a deck, hot tub or braai area into its own outdoor room. Roof it with adjustable blades, a fixed roof or open slats; open slats let the rain through. Unlike timber, there's no sealing or staining.
Clear polycarbonate roofs
Clear sheeting on an aluminium frame, for a space the building already shades. It keeps the rain off and the light in, but it lets heat through too, so it suits a spot like the courtyard under a balcony in Fairlands rather than an open, sunny patio.

Those are starting prices per square metre, supplied and installed. Where your job lands above them depends on its size and span, the roof you pick, whether a louvre gets a Somfy motor (motorised costs more than manual), the colour and finish, how easy the site is to reach, and extras like lights or screens. We confirm every measurement on site before anything is made, and the exact price comes from that.

Why aluminium
Aluminium protects itself. In air it forms a thin, hard oxide layer, and the Aluminium Federation of South Africa notes that the layer re-forms straight away when the metal is cut or scratched. We powder-coat over it in Black, Charcoal, Bronze or Traffic White. Our fixed IBR awnings are aluminium too, sheets and frame, not pre-painted steel.

Insulated patio ceilings start from R2 800 per m², aluminium pergolas from R3 000 and adjustable louvre awnings from R3 200. We confirm every measurement on site before anything is made, and the exact price follows from that.
Fixed IBR awnings and insulated patio ceilings are guaranteed waterproof under standard Highveld rainstorms, provided the gutters and downpipes are cleaned regularly. The adjustable louvre awning is 95% watertight in Highveld storms when closed. Our warranty states that adjustable systems are not designed to be 100% waterproof.
Aluminium doesn't rust the way steel does. It forms a thin oxide layer that re-forms when the surface is cut or scratched, and ours is powder-coated on top. Our 15-year guarantee on the aluminium covers rust, paint chipping and corrosion. It still needs regular washing, because dirt left on any metal speeds up corrosion.
Our written warranty covers adjustable louvres, fixed IBR and patio ceilings. On louvres and fixed IBR it gives 15 years on the aluminium (louvre carriers, support posts and louvre blades) against rust, paint chipping and corrosion. Patio ceilings are guaranteed waterproof under standard Highveld rainstorms, with the gutters kept clean. Installation by our own team carries 1.5 years. Every motorised louvre runs on a Somfy motor, which is covered by Somfy's own warranty. Regular cleaning is a condition of the warranty, and it applies once the job is paid in full.
